The Geregè Protocol is a proposed cross-chain bridge that aims to provide a secure, trustless, and efficient solution for interoperability between different blockchain networks. The protocol relies on succinct proofs based on cryptographic assumptions, rather than external trust assumptions such as committees, to verify the accuracy of block headers on remote blockchains. By using a combination of zk-SNARKs and zk-STARKs, the protocol achieves security while allowing any node to join and participate in relaying block headers, generating proofs, and receiving rewards. Geregè offers builder flexibility, as smart contracts can take advantage of its flexibility by invoking the updater contract to obtain verified block headers and perform their own specific verification and functionality. The protocol is also efficient, with a highly optimized recursive proof scheme that enables the relay of block headers within a short time frame. Our tea believes that Geregè will contribute to the wider adoption of blockchain technology and the creation of a more decentralized and equitable digital economy for all.
