Obi is a unified, all-chain, non-custodial smart account solution with recoverability, hack/theft resistance, inheritance, all-chain abstraction, offline usability, and no added latency. You can read more at https://docs.obi.money. Built on CosmWasm using Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) and Multi-Party Computation (MPC) technology, Obi accounts support native abstraction standards and can integrate into wallets or applications without any developer lift.
Obi natively supports several key types for multi-factor authentication. Currently exposed key types include PassKey, SMS, and Telegram. More key types were developed for earlier versions and will be exposed shortly.
Obi’s abstraction allows accounts to have their own permissioned actors – be they one’s own devices (such as spend-limited hot wallets or session keys), other parties (family members with inheritance, children or contractors with budgets, subscriptions), or automatons (intent-locked workers).
All of these abstraction features are available even on chains without smart contract support, such as Bitcoin and Cosmos Hub.
The most visible current use case for permissions and automatons is non-custodial “”Fast Travel Tunnels”” – intent-locked worker addresses which can pursue a multi-chain asset swap/transfer. Using all-chain abstraction, an Obi user can deposit an asset on one chain in order to accomplish some end intent, such as obtaining a token, NFT, or other asset or deploying into an LP or other DeFi strategy. Fast Travel Tunnels allow the user to make a single deposit into an address that cannot take any action other than pursue their intent (or, in the case of failure along the way, refund the in-progress assets to the user’s Obi on the chain where the transaction failed), using known bridge and swap applications.
It is this use case – Fast Travel – which represents both Obi’s growth hack strategy AND Obi’s primary use for ATOM as Money.
First, as our growth hack strategy: Users can easily create tunnel links to asset contracts, allowing them to offer easy links to their communities. Now “”How do I get your asset?”” or “”How do I get started with your chain/app?”” can be answered with a single link (say, https://obi.money/stars) with one-click non-custodial onboarding to an all-chains account – rather than the current situation requiring multiple wallet installs, seed phrase setups, bridge interfaces, gas fees, and pitfalls along the way.
Second, ATOM as Money. ATOM is a highly liquid asset which can be obtained on multiple exchanges, with a strong presence in IBC/wrapped/derivative forms on a number of blockchains and DeFi applications. Users can save significant time and fees by starting their Fast Travel action, which may be destined for some other Cosmos SDK chain, with an ATOM deposit, rather than a deposit on an ETH chain. ATOM will be not only the automatically recommended starting asset for relevant routes, but also the intermediary asset used when Fast Travels bridge their way to the user’s intent.
Beyond the benefits of bringing easy, non-custodial, unified abstract accounts to Cosmos Hub users and beyond, Obi can also solidify ATOM’s role as interchain money.
