La Multisig – Round 2

This grant was approved through the Quadratic Funding (QF) program. The Atom Accelerator DAO contributes $20,000 USDC to the matching pool for each round of the QF program, and this page states the amount a project received from our allocation. Any amount contributed from the matching pool to this particular project is based on public voting and contributions. As such, AADAO is neither endorsing nor otherwise indicating support for this project. Learn more about the Quadratic Funding program. Some projects might have also been funded through another of our funding programs. View our FAQs on how we deal with potential double-funding.

La Multisig Media purpose is to increase awareness and facilitate user and developer onboarding for the Cosmos ecosystem in Latin America (LATAM) focusing on Argentina. By creating engaging and informative content, this initiative seeks to educate the LATAM community about the benefits and opportunities offered by the Cosmos ecosystem, thereby encouraging adoption and participation within the network.

Description

Latin America presents a fertile ground for blockchain adoption, with a burgeoning interest in decentralized technologies and digital assets. However, there remains a gap in awareness and understanding of specific blockchain ecosystems such as Cosmos. Countries like Brazil, Argentina, and Mexico are among the top 20 in the world with the highest adoption. By targeting LATAM, we aim to bridge this gap and empower individuals in the region to explore and engage with Cosmos, contributing to its growth and decentralization.

Metrics highlighting the urgency and potential impact of such initiatives include:

  • $562 billion in digital currency volume received by LATAM citizens
  • 51% share of LATAM consumers who have paid with digital currency
  • 1/3 people have used a stablecoin for everyday purchases

Argentina is the market with the highest adoption of stablecoins, such as USDC and USDT. Regarding buying behavior, stablecoins represent 60-80% of total purchases, surpassing other cryptocurrencies by almost five times. Users tend to quickly get rid of their FIAT money, as a consequence of the peso devaluation. As an example, Lemon is one of the largest centralized exchanges in Argentina with more than 2 million users. In 2021, before the release of their debit card, their user base was less than 10,000.

As of 2022, Argentina had around 115,000 software developers. This is the second-highest number of developers in South America. According to CESSI, the number of software developers in Argentina will increase to 500,000 by 2030.

The demand for innovative financial services, that seamlessly integrate traditional finance with the realm of cryptocurrency, is evident. Furthermore, these metrics highlight the untapped potential and readiness of the LATAM market to embrace Cosmos adoption. Through this initiative, we aim to empower the LATAM community with knowledge and resources to actively participate in the Cosmos ecosystem. By fostering awareness and facilitating onboarding, we believe we can contribute to the growth and decentralization of Cosmos while unlocking new opportunities for individuals in LATAM.

Expected Benefits of Supporting Us

  • Increased awareness and understanding of the Cosmos ecosystem among the LATAM community.
  • Facilitated onboarding of new users and developers into Cosmos through educational and informative content.
  • Enhanced engagement and participation within the Cosmos network from LATAM users.
