Gyan is a decentralised, learn-to-earn platform that harnesses the power of blockchains to reshape the world of online education and build an on-chain professional network that may ultimately rival its centralized counterparts like LinkedIn. The Gyan platform creates an incentive aligned ecosystem for educators, learners and recruiters/sponsors that increase the efficacy of online education while creating an on-chain, transparent proof-of-learning through sould-bound certifications. The platform utilises ATOM at its heat in maintaining the incentive of various actors in the following way:
1) Educators: Create and post courses by purchasing and staking a minimum amount of $ATOM to list their courses. They can also buy $ATOM tokens to create reward pools for learners and earn $ATOM for each certificate issued. Additionally, educators can access sponsored reward pools for specific courses and compete with other educators to list their courses under these pools.
2) Learners: Learn and earn $ATOM. They purchase and stake a minimum amount of $ATOM to access courses and earn Soul-bound certificates. Completing courses makes learners eligible for $ATOM rewards.
3) Sponsors: These users or entities promote specific courses by donating $ATOM to corresponding reward pools. Sponsors, often recruiters or foundations, can access a pool of candidates with specific skill sets and on-chain “”proof-of-learning.”” They can purchase $ATOM to sponsor existing courses
The GYAN platform is built, at genesis, to serve as a base-layer incentivized educational infrastructure for learning and earning. However, the goal of the platform is to, over phases of development, add functionalities to the platform that combine the learn-and-earn ecosystem, on-chan proof-of-learning through soul-bound certifications and token-rewards to transform it into a decentralised professional network. Phase 1 of GYAN’s development will focus on the creating functionalities for creating & listing courses, funding course-reward pools, enrolling for listed courses, token rewards and soul-bound certificates. Future phaxes of development will focus on build richer P2P interactions with ability to create course-bounties, reputation scoring systems, job boards and recommendation engines.
