Grant to supporting funding the Blockchain Infrastructure Forum (BIF). BIF is a space reserved for deep dive discussions, workshops, debates, and information sharing on the topics of operating PoS blockchain infrastructure, governance, and self-regulatory consortium development. This will be the first BIF that I expect to continue annually for PoS infrastructure providers and all related organizations to take part in to push our infrastructure ecosystem forward. These stakeholders include: L1 foundation validator leads, validators, and datacenters/cloud service providers

WHAT > InfraCon is a space reserved for deep dive discussions, workshops, debates, and information sharing on the topics of operating blockchain infrastructure and governance.

WHO > Invited attendees include representatives from three main stakeholders involved with blockchain infrastructure and governance: (1) Validators, (2) Layer 1 blockchain representatives, (3) Data Center/Cloud Service Providers.

WHY > The validator ecosystem that maintains L1 blockchain infrastructure and engages in governance is one of the most critical aspects of our technology stack.Conversations that engage and expose pertinent information to all three stakeholders with depth and effective fluid conversations have not been held in with enough set time, focus, and actionable goals.Critical problems and topics that directly involve the infrastructure layer and include all three stakeholders need to be addressed together. These topics include but are not limited to: OFAC sanctions and censorship resistance, geographic infrastructure decentralization, MEV, validator responsibilities for client code audits, governance evolution, infrastructural public goods, and (self) regulation.

WHEN & WHERE > The venue that will host these discussions will be at the Austrian National Library in Vienna, Austria, July 5-7, 2023.Infrastructure Management and Governance are two key pillars of a Validator. For Validators, Infrastructure Management has been a strong, well-developed right arm while Governance has been an often underdeveloped weaker left arm.A venue like the Austrian National Library is fitting for the emphasis of the significance of governance responsibilities for Validators within a healthy respect for the structural vestiges of hundreds of years of governance building and evolution.
