AADAO Sunsetting Update: Returning Funds to the Community Pool

Since its launch, Atom Accelerator DAO (AADAO) has been devoted to driving value to the Cosmos Hub and Atom Economic Zone (AEZ), reviewing 416 funding requests, approving 143 grants, and deploying over $8.7M to power innovation across the ecosystem.

By the end of 2024, following a thorough governance process, AADAO contributors unanimously voted to sunset the DAO, with the dual objective of responsibly winding down operations and paving the way for new teams to support the Hub’s next phase of growth.

Over the past few months, the remaining contributors have been doing exactly that, continuing to support the last in-progress Hub grantees, while steadily advancing the wind-down of AADAO operations.

As part of this process, we’re now entering the final stages: returning remaining funds to the Cosmos Hub Community Pool (Hub CP) and completing the last operational steps to close out contributor roles.

Emergency signers have been consulted and are aligned with this course of action. Accordingly, each of our subDAOs – StratComm, GrantComm, and OpsComm – has begun the process of returning their remaining funds to the Hub CP:

Once these pass, we will initiate test transactions, followed by full transactions. We expect these transactions to be completed in about 2-3 weeks (as the subDAOs have longer voting and veto periods, slowing the process down).

Please see the latest update on remaining AADAO funds within each subDAO:

In parallel, we are also continuing the following work, as previously stated:

  • The final active grants are either in the process of being transitioned to other entities for continued support and oversight or are under final review for being deemed complete or discontinued.
  • Venture funding responsibilities are being handed over to Lemma Trust to ensure proper transfer of custody, with an upcoming AADAO proposal to instruct Lemma to send all venture tokens directly to the Hub CP as a way of keeping it as simple and direct as possible.
  • Contributor roles, operations and all AADAO infrastructure will sunset by the end of July 2025.

Lastly, a final proposal will follow to return any leftover unused balances from these completed or cancelled grants and operations back to the Hub CP, and formally close out AADAO.

We appreciate the community’s support throughout AADAO’s journey and remain focused on closing this chapter clearly and with care. Ongoing updates and governance discussions can be found on the Hub’s forum.
